Sometimes, if we talk about the end of life too soon it can be considered rude, tactless and insensitive.
But then circumstances can change in a moment and talking about it can be deeply respectful, appropriate, and salvific.
If you think your dog friend may be getting to the end of her life, please consider reading this helpful advice about the decision to let her go by Ardeth De Vries, the pet loss counselor at Old Dog Haven in Oak Harbor, WA.

Crematiom
Franklin Pet Cemetery, Merced, CA (recently sold to West Coast Pet Memorial Services). Started by Mr Franklin who sold it to his niece (who helped me) who sold it to West Coast. Run by dedicated animal lovers.
I have a driven a number of my Sacred Dead to this crematorium in Merced. I feel better about delivering my dog directly into the hands of the crematorium staff rather than having her body “wait” 1 or 2 weeks to be picked up by other services. That’s just me.
It costs less money than bay area crematoria. I paid $175 in November 2022 for Marmaduke who was about 85 pounds. Then $30 to have his ashes shipped to me. I could have picked them up in Merced.
I appreciate the drive from Oakland to Merced to clear my head after the death.
If you would like to use this crematorium and don’t care to drive to Merced I am happy to make the journey for you. Or we can go together.
